Mami Tsang, owner and complementary practitioner of chi yu, contributed to the blog of Healing Holidays by explaining the Benefits of Acupuncture, excerpt below:
Acupuncture has been practiced in China for thousands of years as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is based on the belief that illness can occur when the flow of life force energy known as Qi, which runs through the body in meridians or channels, become stagnant. During the acupuncture treatment, very fine sterile needles are carefully inserted into specific acupuncture points located on different areas of the body to restore the flow of Qi and in turn restore health.
Acupuncture has been known to treat a range of health conditions. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there are over 40 different conditions and symptoms that are treated effectively by acupuncture, including rheumatoid arthritis, nausea, TMJ, headache, menstrual pain, and lower back pain. Based on scientific evidence, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) also recommends acupuncture as a treatment for chronic lower back pain, chronic tension headaches and migraines. Welcome to our new website! After months of development and content creation we are happy and proud to have launched. We have retained as much of the look and feel of the original as possible, because we still love the design created by our excellent designer, Tricia Shiel, but we have made a lot of content and navigation improvements and added some great intro videos for all our treatments in the treatments page.

L’institut Chi Yu.
Approximate translation “In the centre, in Marylebone, I found a small boudoir institute that mixes Japanese, Chinese, Tai and acupuncture techniques for tailor-made energy massages that put you back together in one session. Do not leave without a bottle of Magnolia Oil, anti-ageing treasure for the face”
Since 2009, Chi Yu Wellness Centre has been providing a range of oriental and complementary therapies, such as therapeutic massage, acupuncture and reflexology, as well as fabulous facials using natural organic based products. When Mami Tsang founded chi yu she wanted to imbue the centre with her roots, beliefs and personality. Chi Yu is, therefore, calming and welcoming in nature with a strong sense of caring and well-being reflecting her devotion to the holistic health and beauty ethos. Mami is Japanese and so the centre is infused with Japanese touches combined with western influences resulting in a little tranquil oasis in the heart of Marylebone, London.

“As soon as the door shuts on number 36 George Street, the hustle and bustle of the street is left behind and the oasis of calm within engulfs me…. In my Italian mind’s eye, I have Mami (owner and founder) down as a rather large middle aged lady wielding a rolling pin. Nothing could be further from the truth of course. Mami Tsang is petite and graceful and very Japanese.” Read more (Article: Marylebone Journal, Jan 2015)
